The biggest injury of the year for the Giants was Buster Posey's leg/ankle disaster in May, which cost him the rest of the season. But Freddy Sanchez's injury was significant as well. Like Posey, Sanchez is what baseball insiders call a "professional hitter," and his presence was missed offensively and defensively. The second baseman played only 60 games, none after June 10, and had right shoulder surgery in August. He only recently began throwing, and he won't hit until early January. But overall, Sanchez is elated with his physical condition and vows to be ready by Opening Day."I'm excited about the season and getting going," Sanchez said. "When you're not out there, you realize you miss the game so much.
