- Left-handed starter Eric Surkamp pitched three excellentinnings against Seattle on Sunday. He needed it, and the Giants needed to see it, becausethey have no guarantees that Ryan Vogelsong will be ready to startthe season. The staff is being extremely conservative with Vogelsong in hisreturn from a strained back, which he injured while lifting weightsin early February.
