It would have been easy to overlook Logan Forsythe's heroics on the west coast late Tuesday night. Fellow rookie Bryce Harper hogged all the headlines earlier in the evening when it came to first-year walkoffs and teammate Carlos Quentin edged his way into the lede with two home runs of his own in the San Diego Padres' 6-5 win over San Francisco at Petco Park. Still, we should take a moment to appreciate what Forsythe did for the Friars' victory. Not only did he turn in one of the year's best defensive plays at second base (watch it at the bottom of the post), but the 25-year-old ended the game in the ninth inning with the first home run of his career. The 410-foot blast off a pitch from Steve Edlefsen was so definitive that Giants left fielder Melky Cabrera started trotting toward the dugout before it even left the yard. "That ball was crushed," Padres manager Bud Black said to reporters. "You could tell right off the bat. Great sound, right trajectory. Great swing." We'll say. Watch it here:
