With one Pablo Sandoval hit and one Buster Posey slide, the narrative of NLDS Game 2 between the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals swiftly changed. Just a few minutes earlier, Nats starter Jordan Zimmermann was cruising in the ninth, one out away from a 1-0 shutout that would have evened the series. The drama was whether he could close it out under 100 pitches. Zimmermann's prowess on the mound was the story, six days removed from his Game 162 no-hitter . But he walked Joe Panik (the first walk of the game by either pitcher) and Nats manager Matt Williams came out of the dugout with his hook. Closer Drew Storen was coming in to face Buster Posey, the Giants' most locked-in hitter of the second half. Posey promptly singled to left-center. Then came Pablo Sandoval, and for all the negative things people like to say about him, the Panda's postseason résumé is quite strong. Sandoval hit an inside-out double down the left field line that scored Panik easily. But the Giants surprisingly sent Posey home too — and woah, Gerald — we're about to have a play at the plate with two outs in the ninth of a postseason game.
