In an equal parts stunning and exhilarating development , unlikely hero Travis Ishikawa catapulted the San Francisco Giants to their 23rd National League pennant in franchise history — and the sixth since the franchise moved to California in 1957 — with a pennant-winning three-run walk-off home run in Game 5 of the NLCS on Thursday night . In doing so, Ishikawa became the fourth player in MLB history to hit a postseason pennant-winning walk-off home run for his his team, joining Magglio Ordonez, Aaron Boone and Chris Chambliss on that very short list. It was a historic moment, and for many fans spanning multiple generations it immediately conjured up memories of Bobby Thomson's pennant-clinching walk-off homer for the then New York Giants in 1951, which became known as The "Shot Heard 'Round the World."
