When it came down to it, the San Francisco Giants decided that having a fully rested Madison Bumgarner starting one game was preferable than trying to send him out twice on short rest. So Bumgarner will take his sterling postseason resume into Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday night on his usual four days' rest when the Giants take on James Shields and the Kansas City Royals in the final game of the season in San Francisco. Bumgarner would be available in relief in Game 7 if necessary. ''I don't think at this point we should push Madison either,'' manager Bruce Bochy said.
