Had the Los Angeles Dodgers not had such a comfortable lead over the San Franciaco Giants in the NL West, the pain of losing a game that took 5 hours, 23 minutes and 16 innings to lose would have been excruciating. As it was, the 5-4 defeat to the Colorado Rockies didn't sit well with anyone in the Dodgers' clubhouse - to say the least. The Rockies used 30 players, tying the major league record set by the Oakland A's on Sept. 19, 1972 in a 15-inning game.
