Professional athlete visits to hospitals are so common now that you may take them for granted as just part of the job, but a fan in Pittsburgh made sure Andrew McCutchen knew how much a visit meant to him. Matt Groeber was dealing with a brain abcess when McCutchen visited him, and after making a recovery and hitting his first (and second and third) home run after returning to the baseball field, Groeber wanted one person to have the ball . He sent it along with a heartwarming letter to the Pirates' star, and McCutchen happioly shared the story with his Facebook followers. Good work by Groeber, the Pirates' star outfielder, and the doctors that led to this happy ending. Speaking of awesome gestures by athletes, Rory McIlroy fan Barry Edwards figured it couldn't hurt to ask if McIlroy had any spare drivers lying around. It probably wasn't going to happen because stars get lots of requests like this on social media all the time, right? Except this time McIlroy replied straight away and sent Edwards a club.
