The sudden death of former MLB pitcher Tommy Hanson hit close to home for many people with a connection to baseball. Hanson died of catastrophic organ failure Monday night in Atlanta at the age of 29. Earlier Monday it was reported he had slipped into a coma . Hanson made his major-league debut with the Braves in 2009 and played there for four years before being traded to the Angels ahead of the 2013 season. He hadn't pitched in the big leagues since that season, spending the last two years in the minor leagues, most recently in the San Francisco Giants' system.
