Belt, Giants agree at $6.2 million just before hearing

First baseman Brandon Belt and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to a $6.2 million, one-year contract. The agreement was $200,000 below the midpoint between the $7.5 million Belt had asked for and the $5.3 million the Giants had offered when figures were exchanged last month. Belt made $3.6 million last year, and Giants general manager Bobby Evans expressed interest in signing Belt to a multiyear contract before the 2016 season.
