First baseman Brandon Belt and the San Francisco Giants agreed Saturday to a $72.8 million, five-year contract that starts in 2017. Belt reached a $6.2 million, one-year agreement in February, and general manager Bobby Evans remained optimistic the sides would reach a long-term deal. The 27-year-old batted .280 with 18 home runs and 68 RBIs last year as the Giants missed the playoffs.
