- The Oakland Athletics beefed up their bullpen on Friday by signing former San Francisco Giants closer Santiago Casilla on a two-year contract worth $11 million, the Major League Baseball team said. Casilla, who went 2-5 with 31 saves and a 3.57 ERA in 62 relief appearances for San Francisco last year, returns to the franchise that signed him as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic on Jan. 31, 2000.
