The Giants spent the Winter Meetings continuing their offseason-long efforts to make an impact move. But Giancarlo Stanton and Shohei Ohtani eluded them shortly before the Meetings began, going to the Yankees and Angels, respectively. Then Miami traded Marcell Ozuna to St. Louis a day before the Meetings ended. Giants officials left the Meetings with general manager Bobby Evans' acknowledgment of "a sense of urgency to upgrade the roster" ringing in their ears.
