Giants place C Posey on IL

The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Buster Posey on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. Posey, 32, strained his right hamstring on Saturday while running out a grounder against the Baltimore Orioles in the seventh inning. The Giants were hoping to avoid placing Posey on the IL, but the hamstring wasn't healing rapidly enough.
