The 1st is complete doublespeak from their GM about a story from a reliable espn source. Fielding offers my ass.

Then look at the Nat's story how Johnson is worth-less if not worthless cuz Sabean passed at sending them anyone good like Sanchez.

The Pirates are the same team holding cards until the river and drawing dead when the outs they had expired on the turn.

Freddy Sanchez - 2B - Pittsburgh Pirates Sultans (Active) Tuesday Jul. 28, 2009
Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that the Pirates have no urgency to trade Freddy Sanchez or Jack Wilson.
A team official emphatically denied a report by ESPN's Jason Stark that said the team intended to move Wilson and Sanchez by the trade deadline. "We do not need to move either player, we have not decided that we must move either or both players, and we will not move either player unless we receive appropriate value in return," said the official. Kovacevic asserts that the club may be more interested in fielding offers than pushing them. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Jul. 28 - 4:26 pm et

Nick Johnson - 1B - Washington Nationals cheese (Active) Tuesday Jul. 28, 2009
According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Nationals might have to settle on a trade for Nick Johnson.
"Where does (Washington's) Nick Johnson go now?" one AL executive told Sherman. Johnson's two biggest suitors, the Red Sox and the Giants, decided to go in other directions, with Adam LaRoche and Ryan Garko respectively. Interim general manager Mike Rizzo hoped to get two quality prospects for Johnson, who will be a free agent after the season, but it looks like they may have set their sites too high. More proof here for you tonight...

Freddy Sanchez - 2B - Pittsburgh Pirates Sultans (Active) Tuesday Jul. 28, 2009
Both Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson are out of Tuesday's lineup.
Sanchez is still dealing with tenderness in his left knee and Wilson has a troublesome hamstring. It does not appear the benchings are trade-related. Jul. 28 - 6:57 pm et

The benchings aren't trading related but ARE related to their respective declining trade values.

If they had struggled against Zito tonight it would have hurt them again. Maybe at least one of them sits again against Cain tomorrow.

Who else praytell is in the market for middle infielder but the Sox and they want defense, because Julio Lugo (released) is a far more productive bat than either.

If not than he is damaged goods and I don't want an non 100% Sanchez at full price.

Hang up the phone Brian. There are better calls trying to come in.

If you are trying to trade Sanchez why sit him against the team most interested in him?

Unless you have something to hide, that is.

Either he IS injured of he will hurt his value by playing and looking bad.

Either way I don't pay full price for a guy who can't go out there a prove he's worth the money.
yea that is definately suspect

they say Sanchez is a healthy scratch for tonight!
He did have 3 hits against Lincecum so
the benching is trade related he was told he is going to be delt already and thats the reason for him being benched heres the link, ESPN radio also reporting sanchez to SF deal almost complete.

I don't like the smell even more.

They're not going to play either player until after the Sunday deadline?

What knid of logic is that? Don't let them more hurt or more healthy?

A deal is in place, but not necessarily to the Giants. The Twins and Cubs are also in the mix. We'll just have to wait it out and see.
Lol weird if sanchez just goes..see ya guys and walks across the diamond and then rakes his old team :)

Yeah, the link says 3 prospects including Jesus Guzman would be the package to Pitt, and the Pirates would pick up some of Sanchez's salary. Let's see what happens.

as long as they do not give up the untoachable prospects, im good but i can't help to wonder how stupid sabean is and how he really might trade one of them for sanchez.
Now the link says Guzman would not be the top prospect in the deal. I'm not sure if I like this.

Also, I noticed it said we went after Zach Duke during the All-Star break.
i hate you fred lewis
